dark nights - the second piece

She suddenly froze in her motions, her eyes affixed at her reflection in front of her, and then at the man standing behind her. The woman put down her hairbrush and turned around. There was no one else in the room. She turned back to the slightly yellowish mirror in front of her, her angry eyes gazing at the man, who now looked at her sadly, his mouth opening slightly, as if to say sorry.

She couldn't stand his face.

With sudden vehemence she picked up the heavy hairbrush and tossed it into the mirror. It shattered, the heavy glass breaking into huge shards. "GO AWAY!" she screamed at the broken panes.

His face slowly disappeared from the glass, his eyes closing in regret.

With one last whisper, he was gone. She never saw him again.

chiiyo's comments :
I was very influenced by Vampire Hunter D when I wrote this. The original piece was less explicit, and was extremely short, but I felt that a little more needs to spelled out so that the piece would actually make sense. Strangely enough, I have this feeling all my dark nights snippets are just going to revolve around the same vampire guy. *sigh*

back to snippets - go to dark nights - the first piece - go to top
