She sat on her bed, her face inches away from the cold window, her breath fogging it up, as her eyes stared fixedly at the rain which poured down just some distance away from her. Beside her, the cat shook itself and snuggled into the blanket she had wrapped around herself. Her finger touched the window in anticipation.
He felt the rain trickle into his clothes, and looked up, caught unawares by the sudden rain. Giving a sudden smile, he stood in the middle of the park and just let the water fall around him, wetting his nut brown hair, even as people hurried around him in their fumbling for brollies.
She sunk deeper into the lush green grass, seeing from her vantage point on a hill the scene of the rain sweeping across the lake, the pitter pattering of the sudden weather change causing the glassy pane of the peaceful lake erupt with sudden fluster, and the swans hurriedly flying for shelter.
He waited patiently, his arms wrapped around his body, the bottom of his trenchcoat just getting a little wet, as he stared out from under the bus stop the murky evening sky and the people of the city moving in a silent dance, their umbrellas open and their faces closed. Beside him, his umbrella was dry.
She laughed, and ran from the slide, as the first few drops of water started to fall from the sky. Her umbrella, coat and boots forgotten, she played in the grassy field in the rain until her cheeks were pink, her hair tousled, and her clothes thoroughly soaked. Beside her, the dog ran here and there, following his mistress.
He sat at the cafe, looking up from his laptop, and gazed at the drizzle that was just going to end outside the full glass panes of the cafe walls. Beside him, the waitresses were gossiping, perhaps about him. Smiling, and giving the rain one last look, he went back to his writing. "The rain had just started to pour." he typed.

This was a very pretty piece of writing. It was raining when I wrote this, and I wanted to portray different people with different lives having the same attitude towards rain: one that is welcoming. The unique part about this snippet was that I veered away from characters I usually wrote, like Bliss or Rhaen, and instead, relied on my imagination to come up with a certain look for each of them. I like the calm feeling this piece has, and also the fact that it comes back full circle, repeating the very first line. I also particularly like the line : "their umbrellas open and their faces closed". *smile*
