The sun had not risen yet. The sea was a strip of dark blue ribbon in front of her, as the cool sea-breeze threaded its way through her long black hair.
It was yet another morning in her life. This was just that same as the rest, as she waited calmly on the cliff top, waiting. Waiting for the elusive sunrise. The perfect sunrise that she’d had always wanted to see.
And it seemed that today, it would finally arrive. The entire sky was painted an idyllic pink, as a strip of orange appeared on the horizon. The sun majestically lit up the sky as it slowly rose, as if putting out its own red carpet. And it rose. Slowly it did, with almost a graceful air, it appeared, an orange crescent on the deep blue sea, in front of her. The rays seemed to raze an orange pathway towards her, as the first sunbeams fell on her face. Like a yellow brick road, telling her where to look.
And look she did, with amazement. The best sunrise of her life, unfolding in front of her. She could barely remember to lift up her hand.
With an unceremonious click, she captured the scene on film.

I wrote this actually for the beginning of the first chapter of one of my many epics (started but never finished...). Inspired mostly by listening to X Japan's Goodbye (Piano), this is mostly a descriptive piece, with some effort to include some imagery along the way. Personally, I liked the passage a lot, but I could never use it in another story, so I'll just deposit this piece in the snippets section... *wink*
